GLP-1 & muscle loss after 65 — answered straight
GLP-1 After 65
Yes — starting a GLP-1 after 65 can take muscle along with the weight, and after 60 that loss speeds up on its own. The good news: strength training protects your muscle at any age, and it is never too late to start.

Why it matters more now
From about age 60, women lose muscle a little faster every year — whether they diet or not. It’s a normal part of aging, and it’s why stairs get harder, jars get tighter, and getting up from a low chair takes two hands.
A GLP-1 can speed that up. When weight comes off fast, your body doesn’t take it all from fat: studies of GLP-1 weight loss show a real share — in some cases up to about 40% — can be lean mass, the tissue that includes your muscle, especially when you aren’t strength training.
And more women over 65 are starting than ever. Medicare’s new GLP-1 Bridge program covers certain GLP-1 weight-loss medicines for eligible members at a $50 monthly copay — so the medicine is suddenly within reach. But the medicine handles your appetite. It does not protect your muscle. That part is trainable — and it’s the part that keeps you strong, steady, and independent.
That’s exactly what we do inside Skinny Fat Fix: simple, coached strength workouts at home with dumbbells and bands, at a pace that respects your joints — with a coach watching your form the whole time. Start with the four moves below.

Four starter moves
The same moves Coach RJ coaches live every week — picked because they protect the strength you use every day.
Move 1
Sit-to-Stand
Sit tall, stand all the way up, sit back down with control. It looks simple because it is — and it’s the exact strength you use to get out of a chair, a car, and off the floor, every single day.
Move 2
Glute Bridge
Feet flat, lift your hips, squeeze hard at the top. Strong hips and glutes are your walking muscles and your balance muscles — this is where they get built, lying down.
Move 3
Hip Hinge
Push your hips back and slide the weights down your legs, then stand tall. This teaches you to lift with your legs and hips instead of your back — how you pick up groceries, laundry, and grandkids safely.
Move 4
Step-Back
Step one foot back, lower down, push through your front heel to stand. Hold a chair for balance any time you need it. One leg at a time builds the steadiness that keeps you on your feet.

Quick answers
I’m over 65. Is strength training safe for me?
For most people, yes — and it’s one of the best things you can do for your strength and balance. Talk to your doctor before you start, begin light, and train coached: inside Skinny Fat Fix every move is demonstrated, scaled to your level, and form-checked live. A sturdy chair for balance is always welcome.
I’ve never lifted weights. Can I start now?
Yes. This is a beginner program — most women start with light dumbbells or just the bands. You’ll learn one move at a time, at your pace, with a coach watching. Starting at 65 or 75 is not late; muscle responds to training at every age.
Does Medicare cover this program?
No — and we won’t pretend otherwise. Medicare’s GLP-1 Bridge helps eligible members with the cost of certain weight-loss medicines; it doesn’t cover workout programs. Skinny Fat Fix is $47/month after a free first week, cancel anytime.
What equipment do I need?
A pair of dumbbells and long resistance bands with handles — that’s all we use. A sturdy chair helps for balance on some moves. Everything is done at home; no gym, no machines.
